Mini Journal (“we”, “our”, or “the extension”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we handle data in our Chrome extension.
Core Privacy Principle
Your journal entries are 100% private and stored only on your device. We do not collect, transmit, store, or have access to any of your journal content.
Data Storage
Local Storage Only
- All journal entries, preferences, and settings are stored locally on your device using Chrome’s local storage API (chrome.storage.local)
- Your data never leaves your computer
- We cannot access your journal entries
- Uninstalling the extension will remove all locally stored data
No Cloud Sync
- We do not sync your data to any cloud servers
- We do not create backups of your data
- We do not have access to your journal content at any time
Data We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit:
- ❌ Journal entries or any written content
- ❌ Personal information (name, email, address, etc.)
- ❌ Browsing history
- ❌ Website content you visit
- ❌ Passwords or credentials
- ❌ Location data
- ❌ Financial information (other than through ExtensionPay - see below)
- ❌ Health information
- ❌ User activity or behavior tracking
- ❌ Analytics or usage statistics
Payment Processing (Pro Version)
ExtensionPay Integration
For users who choose to upgrade to Mini Journal Pro, payment processing is handled exclusively by ExtensionPay (https://extensionpay.com), a trusted third-party payment processor approved by the Chrome Web Store.
What ExtensionPay Handles:
- Payment processing (credit card transactions)
- Subscription management
- License verification
What We Receive:
- Only a simple “paid” or “unpaid” status to enable Pro features
- We do NOT receive your payment details, credit card information, or personal information

Payment Data
- We never see or store your credit card information
- All payment transactions are processed securely by ExtensionPay
- We only receive confirmation that payment was successful to unlock Pro features
Permissions Explained
Our extension requests the following Chrome permissions:
storage
- Purpose: Save journal entries locally on your device
- Data Access: Only data you create within the extension
- Privacy: All data stays on your device
sidePanel
- Purpose: Display the journal interface in Chrome’s side panel
- Data Access: No data access - only displays our interface
- Privacy: No privacy implications
tabs
- Purpose: Open welcome page on installation and manage extension windows
- Data Access: No access to tab content
- Privacy: Does not read or monitor browsing activity
Host Permission (extensionpay.com)
- Purpose: Verify Pro subscription status with ExtensionPay
- Data Access: Only communication with payment processor
- Privacy: No journal data is transmitted
Third-Party Services
We use only ONE third-party service:
ExtensionPay
- Purpose: Payment processing for Pro subscriptions
- What’s Shared: Only payment transaction data (handled entirely by ExtensionPay)

Data Sharing
We do NOT:
- ❌ Sell your data to third parties
- ❌ Share your data for advertising purposes
- ❌ Use your data for purposes unrelated to journaling
- ❌ Transfer data for credit or lending purposes
- ❌ Provide your data to data brokers
Children’s Privacy
Mini Journal does not knowingly collect data from children under 13 years of age. Since all data is stored locally and we don’t collect any personal information, the extension can be used by users of all ages safely.
Data Retention
- Journal entries are kept on your device until you delete them or uninstall the extension
- We have no access to your data to retain or delete
- You have complete control over your data
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- ✅ Access all your journal data (it’s stored locally on your device)
- ✅ Delete your data at any time (by clearing entries or uninstalling)
- ✅ Export your data (Pro feature: export as PDF or Markdown)
- ✅ Use the extension without creating an account
- ✅ Cancel your Pro subscription at any time

- Your journal entries are protected by Chrome’s built-in security
- Data is only accessible by the extension
- No network transmission of journal content
Best Practices
- Keep your computer secure with a password
- Use Chrome’s profile lock feature for additional privacy
- Regularly back up your data using the export feature (Pro)
Changes to Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted with a new “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
